Lunch In a Paper Bag

During the summer Jared told me to get rid of his lunch bag because he was too old for it.  And I agreed for some reason.

But then school started and I still hadn't purchased a new one and so I started drawing on his paper bags to make them more fun.

My hope was that they would be a little better than me just writing on a napkin that I love him.  I was hoping that he would see the drawing at lunch and know that I love him and that I am thinking of him.

Well I think it works because his teacher relayed to me a conversation she overheard him having with another student in his class.  Basically the other kid was trying to get Jared to throw away his lunch bag and Jared replied, "No, I won't.  My mother drew this picture for me and it is special to me."

So sweet.

Anyways, I kind of also really enjoy it, it's fun to be creative, even if it is just doodling.  I've been taking pictures of them for fun, so here they are.

Novalee even got into it and made this Spiderman and glued it on a lunch bag.  Hers is way cool!

I should also just say that I'm not a very creative person when it comes to thinking up on my own something to draw or to draw from memory.  I had to cheat and look at something to draw these.  :)  But they are fun and Jared likes them.  :)

Sadie's Second Birthday

Sadie turned two in September.  I can't believe it was only a month and a half ago, it feels like forever ago.

Novalee made a balloon face for Sadie.  She also drew most of the Sesame Street characters for Sadie.  It was pretty sweet of her.

 She loves Elmo!

 And she loves Cookie Monster.

Grandma and Grandpa Pectol got Sadie a Trike for her birthday.  She can't reach the peddles enough to move the bike yet but she know who Barbie is now.  :)

She's so pretty!  We love her!

I want to take a moment and write a little about Sadie at two.  Her vocabulary has exploded since she has turned two.  It is amazing to listen to her talk and say new things.  She loves her older sister Novalee so much.  She loves to mimic her, which sometimes isn't so great.  Let's just say that she likes to shake her booty just as much as Novalee.  She loves Winnie the Pooh and Elmo.  They are her favorite things to talk about or watch.  She loves airplanes.  She has loved them ever since Wesley took her to the International Airshow in Hillsboro this year.  She loves to point them out in the sky and whenever we drive by the airport she talks about them.  Sometimes it is that they have gone night night and sometimes it is about Daddy taking her to see them.  She has become more set in her ways but she is her Daddy's daughter through and through so that is to be expected.  She is still very sweet and loves to help.  She also has recently become a fan of the boy band One Direction and if you ask her if she thinks the boys are cute she will say "yep."

Happy Birthday Sadie Lady!

Jared Has a Green Thumb

Jared brought home sunflower seed starts at the end of the school year last year.  He planted them and then dug them up and moved them a few times.

If I had felt they were going to survive I wouldn't have agreed to the last place they ended up.

But survive they did!

Here is his huge sunflower right in front of our door.

On another occasion he asked if he could bury a potato I let go bad.  Then a couple of months later Wes asked me if the plant growing outside was Jared's potato.  I had completely forgotten about him planting a potato so I said I didn't think so.  But sure enough we harvest potatoes!  :)

First Day of School

I know these posts are a long time coming but there is a little USB cable thief in the house.  I'm thinking it is Sadie but it would just be my poor memory.  Either way, I've scoured the house looking for the cable to hook up my camera to the computer and have yet to find it.  We finally just broke down and bought a SD card reader.

So here are Jared and Novalee's first day of school pictures.

 Jared is getting so big!
Jared made it very clear to me that he is growing up by popping out this fake smile for the camera and then as soon as the flash went off saying, "Great, I'm done" and then he walked out the door.

Novalee was a lot more willing to take pictures on her first day of Kindergarten.

Labor Day

Wes and I with Sadie and Kinsley hiked Neahkahnie mountain on Labor Day.  One more hike to check off our great hikes of the northwest.

Here we are at the beginning of the hike.

And then Wes decided to move the car closer to the trailhead and had to set Sadie down to do it.

 She looks thrilled.  ;)

At the almost top.  We decided not to go the last little bit because it would have been dangerous with the girls but we count this.  :)  (Look at Kinsley's chunky cheeks, sooo edible).

On the way home we drove by a beach entrance sign that is called "Hug Point."  Last minute, hitting the brakes hard and turning rather sharply, we decided we had better stop.

  We'd better hug.
Here is our attempted family hug.  :)

Our beautiful little girl loving the sand.

It was so great to just enjoy the time on the beach and to watch Sadie enjoy it so much.
And that was our Labor Day.
