Seaside in April

Better late than never.

Pictures from the trip.

 Jared's gumball buddy.
He spent his entire allowance on candy at the Candyman Store.

Oh yes, she really is eating on a crab shell.  We did take it from her but just a little too late.

It seems to have become tradition, at least for the kids, that we have to take a Carousel ride and go to the Candyman Store EVERY time we go to Seaside.

Home Improvement Helper

Owning a home is a lot of work!  And we seem to always have something we are working on.

I can't say that all of our kids have caught the fever of helping us work.
But Sadie loves to be our little helper.  She is convinced that Daddy doesn't mind her playing with his tools because she is just "organizing" them AND because, "Daddy likes me."

Just recently we caught her with the saw...cutting.

Cutting and chanting, "cut, cut, cut..."

Chanting and cutting the front bumper of our Yukon.

Awesome.

Sexy Tan Line

What you get when you wear the same shoes during two and half weeks of painting outdoors.

I think these are going to look dang good in heels tomorrow at church!

Just kidding. :)

Nehalem Bay State Park...In A Yurt

The first weekend in May we went camping at Nehalem Bay State Park.

I know, that was almost two months ago...but this summer has been busy or I should say pre-summer since technically today is the first real day of Summer.  Wahoo!

Anyways, I can't remember the details as to why we ended up in a yurt (mommy brain is unforgiving) but we reserved a yurt a few weeks beforehand and  Wes worried up until the day of about the weather. :)

It was perfect.

Also, Yurts are so sweet!  I don't think I have plans to camp any other way.  Really, I probably will have to but I don't wanna! (Insert whiny voice).  Yurts come with beds, heater and lights.  Ours had a deck, firepit, picnic bench.  All we had to bring was our clothing, sleeping bags, wood and food.  Easy packing.

So this park itself was great too because there were showers, real toilets (no airy bum, mysterious things living in the deep pit ones) and a playset.

Most importantly, the beach is seriously right over a hill!

We had a blast!

Daddy and Kinsley by the fire.

Our awesome, if not awesomely organized yurt.

The next day on the beach was so relaxing.
Not a single cloud, perfectly hot and we just played and played.

Kinsley loved playing in the sand AND eating random bits of anything she could find.

 Flying Kites

Just some more playing at the beach pictures.
You wouldn't believe it but I actually did leave some out.

Sadie couldn't get enough of the water and wanted Daddy to come run from the waves pretty much the entire time.

Our creepy seaworm which totally freaked me out.  With sharks and these babies in the water I'm pretty sure I'm not a ocean kind of girl.

First baby bump picture.  12 and 1/2 weeks.

All tuckered out from having so much fun!

3T Shorts From 6x Shorts

Sadie has two pairs of shorts for summer.
 Two.

I'm not even sure how that is possible since practically all her clothes are hand-me downs from Novalee.

Did Novalee never wear shorts when she was that size?

They are probably in a box somewhere...

Anyways, I'm trying to clear some space in my closet, which beyond clothes, basically consists of craft and sewing stuff.

Best way to clear it (in my book) is to use it.

So I decided to make Sadie some shorts with fabric I had in the closet.

But I didn't have a pattern.
So I tried what I did once before, where I take shorts already made and use that pattern.

But I didn't have a pattern I liked in Sadie's size so I used a pair of Novalee's and then adjusted the pattern to fit Sadie.

 Novalee's Shorts

Here is the pattern I made.
Totally basic.
I probably didn't even do it right but it works.

The pair I made for Sadie!

Instead of using a button, I found a leftover flower from when my mom made my prom dress.  Holy moly!  Why do I still have these?  Can you say hoarder?
But I'm glad I do because it's pretty cute on the shorts.

She is so cute AND I like the shorts too! :)
 Not bad for winging it!

Three Yellow Dresses

I had a wonderful Mother's day!  I hope you did too.  I kept telling Wes over and over again for probably at least a couple of weeks ahead of time that I was SO excited for it!

Why?

Well, in our family there is a rule that the celebrated person (birthdays included) doesn't have to do any work on their special day...unless they want to.

SOOOOO NICE!

Yesterday I woke up to my family bringing me breakfast in bed AND lovely gifts.  One in particular I've wanted for a very long time, thank you Wesley.  And then I spent the rest of the day doing very little.  Wesley that night told me he appreciated all that I do.  Double Bonus!

Plus to add to all that loveliness I finally finished making matching(ish) dresses for the girls on Saturday, so on Sunday they got to wear them for me. :)

Plus it took yards and yards of fabric out of my closet that have been sitting in there, for well, a year. :)

Kinsley's
 Sadie's
 Novalee's

My cute girls!

It was so fun having them all matching at Church!

I loved it!

Baseball Game Recap

Jared had a baseball game tonight.

 We just got home.

Mondays and Wednesday evenings are cr-A-zy around here.
(Swim lessons and Baseball with dinner squeezed into 20 minutes in between.)

Here is the recap:

I went to the game in a white shirt.  It is now tie dyed brown and white.
(My third, once, white shirt today...I should just give up on them.)

Kinsley decided over and over and OVER again that the infield was an appropriate place for an 11 month old (it could be that she was just trying to get to the coach known also as dad to her).

She also decided that a used band-aid found on the ground should be part of her balanced diet.  Gag!

Novalee and Sadie rolled in the grass and then played in the dirt... can you say bath time tonight!

And finally at the end of the game I asked Novalee and Sadie if they thought the team did well and Novalee said she didn't know and Sadie responded with this conversation.

"Did we have fun guys?"-Sadie
"We had fun, did you?"-Me
"I had fun with my SODA, I am thinking!"-Sadie

Oh, so did you want a recap on the actual game?

Jared caught a ball and got someone out on first.  He also made one of the two runs home.

The game ended, tied 2-2.

Go Little League Diamond Backs!
