Wes' Hunt

Wes went hunting today with his dad to try and fill his buck tag.

He hasn't gotten home yet but looks like he was successful!

That sounds far...

Since I don't know anything about hunting, this post might need to be edited, it might not even be a buck. :)

Baby Sadie's Blessing Day

I love baby blessings. They are even more special when the blessing is for one of your own children.

The whole day yesterday was wonderful. We had a great morning together as a family. Our older children knew what was going to happen because we prepped them earlier that week during Family Home Evening. It was neat to see their excitement and hear their questions about this special day.

Of course the blessing was so sweet.

We loved having our family around on such a great day. It was nice to have everyone's support and love with us.






We love you baby Sadie and are so happy to have you in our family!

Reid Park Zoo

Since Wes went hunting today and the kids and I had a free Saturday together we decided to head to the Zoo here in Tucson.

All was well until I couldn't find the zoo and I never thought to look at a map (I had driven past Zoo signs before and figured it would be easy to find.)

Anyways, you know how guys stereotypically hate to ask for directions?

I'm obviously not a guy and happen not to mind at all saving minutes of wasted time in my life avoiding driving around looking for a some place.

So in hopes of curing Jared of this "guy" thing before it became an issue, as soon as I realized I probably wouldn't find the Zoo on my own anytime soon, I stopped and asked an elderly couple for directions.

Upon receiving the directions I rolled up the car window and immediately said, "See guys, that's how it's done. If you get lost when you are older, you just find someone nice looking and ask for directions!"

Jared immediately responded with, "Ha! When I get older, I'm just going to look up on the computer the place and print the map and directions."

Whatever. He is right, I should have printed the directions, Wes would have said the same thing.

But what's wrong with asking for directions?

The Zoo was a surprise. I figured it would be lame since people always say you can go through it in about an hour. I have been to many Zoos. I happen to love them but this is on the top favorite list.

Reasons:

Mostly large walking (stroller) paths.

Animals are so close you could almost touch them.

There are kid friendly things to do at almost every turn

Peacocks still roam free (Jared and Novalee came home with a feather. [No they didn't pluck it from the bird])

You can see all the zoo in about two hours if your part of my family

Admission is reasonable

They were preparing for the Zoo program tonight, so we got to see all the cool Halloween Decorations.

Novalee was very excited to see Ariel since that is what she is going to be this Halloween.

And Sadie, I'm not sure if she enjoyed the Zoo. She did smile when we were looking at the Mayan Tigers but it might have been because I was holding her...

Quail, Oregon Trip and More

So Wes got his way and on Wednesday night last week we ate Quail.

Here they are preprepared.

Wes said he remembered them tasting better camping.

I thought they were too chewy. I also couldn't get over how little they were, like baby birds. Here one is dangling over the plate. Ew.

I'm pretty sure Jared didn't even try them. But hey it was an experience.

Trip to Oregon this Weekend.

While traveling, people kept asking me how I was able to travel with three small children.

Perhaps because I was blessed and they were little angels. Here's proof.

Meeting Sadie...

While up in Oregon it just so happened to be my brother's graduation from the Oregon Culinary Institute.

We are all very proud of him!

While in Oregon I got to go eat out several times. I really enjoy food and good company.

The first place we ate at was Ochoa's Mexican Restaurant. I have been wanting to eat there since I first noticed it in Hillsboro about a year ago. So I was excited to eat there.

Huge plates, average Mexican food.

The next day I went to breakfast with my friend Desha. We ate at Down to Earth Cafe in Multnomah Village. I have been wanting to stop in and eat there for years. Totally worth it. My Chicken Breakfast Burrito was so delicious! (Sorry, no shots of me oinking out.)

Then after my brothers graduation we went to Swagaths, fine Indian Cuisine. So so good.

The best part was that the Indian food made my dad very uncomfortable. I know, I know, I'm heartless but we were all laughing so much. It was mostly funny because it wasn't even that spicy.

This is really sweat on his face. Crazy.

And yes he does have the linen napkins tucked in his shirt.

While the people serving us thought he was funny, I don't think they preferred him wrapping himself up in the linens. So they gave him a huge stack of paper napkins while telling him at the same moment that they would go turn up the Air Conditioner. Ha!

(You can see him in the background in the corner, wiping his face yet again.)

It totally reminded me of the scene from Along Came Polly where they are at the Indian Restaurant and he is just sweating a ton.

Kind of Similar

Only I had the advantage of knowing what both Wes and I looked like when we were born. Which gave me the advantage of knowing what Sadie would look like. (The only thing that was a surprise was her deep blue eyes.)

I wish I had a picture of Wesley when he was an infant. But here is a picture of me that I got this weekend while I was in Oregon and one of Sadie. Sadie's a little older in her picture but I think they have similarities.

A lot of her is definitely Crockett and a lot of her is Vessey. Which makes sense, considering Wes and I had similar features as infants. Luckily that changed with age. :)

Maybe sometime I will get a photo of Wesley as a baby and add it to this so everyone can see how much she looks like a Crockett too. That is definitely apparent when you look at Wes' baby photos.

Sadie's One Month Check Up

Today Sadie had her one month well baby check up.

When she went in on September 13th, she weighed 7lbs and 8 oz. She was 19 and 3/4 inches long.

Today on October 12th she weighs 10 pounds. She is 21 and 3/4 inches long. And she has a head circumference of 15 inches.

Yahoo for my growing baby!

International Wildlife Museum & More

Here are a couple more photos of Sadie at her four week mark.

So at about 3:00am that night I was taking care of Sadie and I had to take some photos of her faux hawk. I just love it!






I also just have to say that I'm glad we didn't spend a ton of money on a crib or a pack N play because this is the ONLY way Sadie stays asleep at night.

Oh yes, she is sleeping in her carseat, in the pack N play.

She is so cute in the morning.

Okay onto the International Wildlife Museum.

Yesterday, Saturday October 9th 2010 we made plans to go to the Reid Park Zoo but it was so packed that we decided to go to the International Wildlife Museum instead and then afterwards drive up to the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch.

At some point after this picture was taken, Novalee slipped into the pond and came out with pond scum all over her, most particularly on her bum.

So instead of going to feed ostriches we had to go home. Too bad too because I was really looking forward to feeding the fastest flightless bird.

And tonight. We wanted to get Sadie in her PJs.

She doesn't really like airplane and Wesley looks a little nervous about potential bird droppings from above, which is weird since we're inside. ;)
